Verifying Your Account for Google Apps

To use Google Apps, you need to verify your domain ownership with them. In order to do this, you need to create a CNAME record using the authentication token provided by Google.


1 Log into your cPanel. If you are unsure on how to do this, please view the following help article – ‘How to log into cPanel‘.


2 Under the ‘Domains‘ heading, click on’Zone Editor‘.


3 Click on ‘Manage‘ to the right of the domain you wish to edit.


4 Click on the ‘ downwards arrow‘ next to the blue add record button, then click on ‘Add “Cname” Record‘.


5 In the ‘Name‘ field, paste the Label/Host portion of the CNAME verification record you copied from the record Google provided you with.

In the ‘Record‘ field, paste the Target/Destination portion of the CNAME verification record you copied from the record Google provided you with.

Click on the blue ‘Add Record‘ button to add the new CNAME record


6 You can now back into your Google Apps account and follow the prompt to ‘Verify domain ownership‘.


7 Choose ‘Change your CNAME record‘ from the ‘Verify your domain ownership‘ option.


8 Double check the information that you set as the CNAME record is correct and complete by pressing ‘Verify‘.
