Regular users of their HostPresto cPanel may have noticed that there is a file limit, known as ‘inodes’. This is quite literally the number of files on your account. For example, one email is one file, much as the same as one image is one file also.

Although we set very high limits to give you the most flexibility, it’s important we limit the number of files on an account for performance reasons – lots of files can cause issues, especially with disk access performance and most notably backup and restore times.

Previously our packages have had the following file (inode) limits:

  • Starter and Starter+ – 150,000
  • Business and Business+ – 200,000
  • Pro and Pro+ – 250,000

As of today, we’ve also increased the limits on the + packages so you get more value for money, and the limits better reflect the disk size of the account:

  • Starter – 150,000
  • Starter+ – 200,000
  • Business – 250,000
  • Business+ – 300,000
  • Pro – 350,000
  • Pro+ – 400,000

After this, if you go over 400,000 files you’ll need to upgrade to a CloudServer or split your account out into multiple cPanel accounts.

For resellers, we’re planning to add around 30 new packages to chose from to give you more flexibility out of the box. Resellers are able to create their own accounts which all have a fixed file limit of 150,000 per cPanel account, however we’re going to add packages ranging from 200MB up to 50GB with file limits ranging from 20,000 up to 400,000 so you can get most out of your reseller package.  Look for these in the coming week.
