To some of you, Google Analytics will be completely new, some of you might have heard of it, and some of you may even use it, however, today we’re going to show you how to integrate it into your WordPress blog, and see your latest visitor stats every time you visit your admin panel.
Firstly, you’ll need a Google Analytics account, if you don’t already have one.
You can get a Google Analytics account from https://www.google.com/analytics/ – It’s completely free, and only takes a few moments to sign up.
Once you’ve signed up to Google Analytics, it’s time to integrate it with your WordPress Blog.
First thing’s first, let’s log in to our blog:
Once you’re logged in, in your dashboard, simply go to Plugins->Add New and type in Google Analyticator:
This will give you a list of results, the first of which should be Google Analyticator.
Click on install to install the plugin, then click on “Activate Plugin”
Now, find Google Analyticator in your list of installed plugins, and click on settings:
and you will be presented with this screen:
Click on the link and enter your Google Analytics login details, then click “Allow Access”, Google will now give you a code.
Click on the box containing the code, which should highlight the code, then press Ctrl+C on your keyboard, or right click your mouse in the box, and select “Copy”.
Now, go back to your blog admin page and enter the code in the box provided, then click on “Save & Continue”.
You will be redirected to the Google Analyticator settings page.
In the “Basic Settings” section, change ‘Google Analytics Logging’ to Enabled, and select your site ID from the ‘Google Analytics UID’ dropdown box.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Save Changes’.
Return to your WordPress Dashboard via the ‘Dashboard’ link in your Admin-Menu:
You will now see your Google Analytics Summary on your dashboard, with some basic information about your visitors, where they came from, and what they read on your website.
