If, like many of us, you’ve managed to forget the password for your WordPress Admin panel, don’t worry, you can follow our simple steps to reset it through phpMyadmin.
- Log in to your cPanel account:
- Scroll down to ‘Databases’ and select ‘phpMyAdmin’:
- Select your WordPress database at the left, and then select the wp_users table:
- You will now see a list of your users, select the ‘Edit’ option for your admin account:
- The field we need to edit is the ‘user_pass’ section, you will notice it’s a string of seemingly random characters, this is your password after it has been md5 encrypted, this keeps your password more secure. In order to change your password, we first need to generate an md5 version of the password you wish to use, I recommend you use This md5 generator to generate the md5 hash:
- Copy the string that is generated (without the quotation marks) and paste it into the user_pass box in phpMyAdmin. Now click on ‘Go’ and your password will be updated.
- You can now log into your WordPress Admin account with your new password.
