PHP and MySQL have made it easy for web masters to create dynamic websites. The software is free and easily obtainable. The only thing that a web master has to do is to follow simple steps to create PHP scripts and link them to the MySQL database.
The first step in creating a dynamic web page with PHP and MySQL is selecting a server or web host. Most web hosts will already have PHP and MySQL installed, so unless you plan to have a very large site, you will not need a dedicated server.
After you have a web hosting plan in place, the next step in creating a dynamic web site is setting up your MySQL database. The databases in mySQL each have a regular standard set up. Each database is made of of tables. Tables are separate and each table can have different fields. Tables in turn have records that are made up of the fields.
When you set up your MySQL database, you will need a database name as well as a user name along with a password. You will need this information to log into your database. Many web hosts offer PHPMyAdmin or another program available. If you have access to this program, you can access your database with your user name and password. If you don't you have to do you database administration tasks by using PHP scripts.
Before you can work with your database, you must set up a table. A table is simply part of the database that is used for storing related information. After you have created your table, you will set up fields for the table. Because you have different information in fields of different tables, you can build an entire site around just one database.
It is easy to create a table if you use PHPMyAdmin. You type the name of the table, decide on the number of fields in the table and select the button. The next step will take you to the set up screen where you create each field for your database. Setting up fields in MySQL is quick and easy.
There are many types of fields available in MySQL. A quick search on the web will provide you with a complete list of the fields that are allowed in a MySQL database.
You can also set up your table using PHP commands, but it is more complicated than setting it up in MySQL. You will need to write your script by hand and define your fields with correctly written commands.
One of the things you should do when setting up your MySQL database is create a database of contacts for each person that will be using the site. Their information will be stored in the database, but you will be able to view and edit their contact information on the Internet.
Once you have set up your database, you can proceed to the next step in creating a dynamic site.

Although WHM will normally automatically keep itself up to date, you may want to manually check for server updates / push through an update that is pending, or it may be that you have automatic updates switched off on your cPanel server. In this guide we will show you how...
